This rapid expansion strengthens California’s ability to capture clean energy during off-peak hours and dispatch it during peak evening demand, enhancing grid stability and minimizing reliance on fossil fuel generation.

- Utility-scale: 11,462 MW
- Statewide Progress:
- In just six years, battery storage capacity grew from 500 MW in 2018 to 13,300 MW in 2024.
- The goal for 2045 is to reach 52,000 MW of energy storage capacity (Source).
