IRP Flexibility Needs Workshop

The workshop will explore issues related to the increasing need for flexibility in California’s electric system. The workshop will provide an overview of operational issues associated with integrating renewable resources into the electric grid, and it will include several presentations and panel discussions that address potential solutions to these operational issues, including: regional coordination, flexible loads, novel uses of excess electricity, and flexible capacity.

Energy Commission Chair Robert B. Weisenmiller will conduct the meeting jointly with CPUC Commissioner Liane M. Randolph along with representatives from the California ISO. Other Commissioners from the Energy Commission and the CPUC may also attend and participate in the workshop. A quorum of Commissioners from the CPUC and/or the Energy Commission may be in attendance, but no votes will be taken. If you have any questions please contact Kevin Barker (Kevin.Barker@energy.ca.gov).
